Our Hospital History

In its 44 -year history, Belmont Shore Veterinary Hospital has had a long and esteemed record of exceptional veterinary care for the pets of the Long Beach area.

The hospital was founded in 1972 by Dr. Kenneth Ehlen. Over the next 4 decades the hospital has been lovingly passed to Dr. Zoelner in 1979, Dr. Loren Eslinger in 1994 and then to its current owners Dr. Rachel Sitler and Dr. Elyse Frank in 2007.

In June of 2003 the practice moved from its original location on Second Street to its current location on the corner of PCH and Loynes. We now boast 3500 sq. ft of beautifully remodeled space designed to provide the best possible experience for all our patients.

Our doctors are not paid on commission and have no quotas.

Locally Owned and Operated

We are proud to be locally owned and operated!
When large veterinary service corporations buy out small, locally owned businesses, it means less choice for doctors and clients: for example, restrictions on the types of drugs practices are allowed to carry, mandates to use certain laboratories, and pressure to reach monthly quotas. We proudly reject these trends! Our doctors are not paid on commission, have no quotas, no restrictions on medications they can prescribe, and no pressure to up sell our clients just so they can make their production numbers each month. They are simply paid to keep their patients healthy and provide the best in customer service to our clients.
